#NoScrubsCX 2 FUNraiser

It was a beautiful fall day for an adventure, and close to 60 riders took to the trails and streets of Philadelphia in the second annual #NoScrubsCX alleycat. In addition to being a fundraiser for the team’s programming to encourage and support women’s cycling in Philadelphia, host clinics, and sponsor junior women racers, this year’s race also raised funds for Cadence Youth Cycling and Neighborhood Bike Works.

Riders were challenged with a long route, where winners would be determined by most checkpoints visited in the shortest amount of time, and a 3 hour window to make it back to the finish line at Neighborhood Bike Works. From smashing piñatas made by Sophia, drawing mythical creatures with Melissa, feeding feral cats with Lindsay and Meghan, taking on a mini-cyclocross course with Taryn, doing bike limbo with Michaela and Emma, and hula hooping with Eve and Roz, each checkpoint offered opportunities for racers to win raffle tickets for their performance along the way.

Four junior racers from the Cadence Youth Cycling program — one of our beneficiaries for this event — took to the course and had a great time visiting checkpoints and chasing down their coaches en route. The women’s podium was a tight competition, with winner Lauren choosing the south route and arriving second overall at the finish line. In the open men’s division, 8 racers completed the full course, and Ryan out-navigated Kyle for the win in the end.

Congratulations to all our winners, including trophy finders Mike & Sean and grand prize raffle winner Ben, who went home with a brand new Jamis Beatnik courtesy of Bicycle Therapy!
