What is WTF is Cyclocross?
WTF is Cyclocross is a FREE 5-session beginner-focused cyclocross skills series led by members of Team Laser Cats, Team VeloDash, and friends of the squads. We focus on preparing you for race day from pre-registration to post-race nutrition and everything in between, and we aim to make cyclocross a fun sport based on personal challenges, skill building, and process goal setting. We also welcome veteran racers who understand the importance of honing and refining skills season after season.
We encourage folks to sign up for races and come back to us with questions! Attend one or all of the sessions. WTF commonly stands for Women/Trans/Femme, and we’re a team that loves wordplay. Our sessions are open to all gender identities, but note that misogyny and transphobia will not be tolerated.

Cyclocross and You: The Box Set: This is a great collection of blog posts from a friend of the squad in the DC area that covers everything from choosing/setting up a bike for cyclocross to how to sign up for races.
The most common way to register for cyclocross races in our region is BikeReg, and you can filter by geography based on how far you’re willing to travel.
In order to race cyclocross, you’ll need a racing license. Just trying one out? You can purchase a one-day. Or you could dive in and get an annual license and hold yourself accountable to trying a full season! Information on licenses available from USA Cycling.
