Name: Taylor Kuyk-White, aka YungTayTay

Occupation/Off-Bike Skills: I’m pretty sure I have an exceptionally rad day job. I work for a non-profit called Neighborhood Bike Works where I call myself the “Youth Bike Education and Empowerment Program Coordinator.” Yup! That means I get to spend most of my time working alongside Philly teens going on adventures, teaching bicycle mechanics, and practicing professional skills.

Disciplines: At heart I’m a minimalist off road cycle tourist. But as adulting catches up to me, I find it harder and harder to take months at a time to explore the nature at my hearts leisure. Fortunately I’ve found a raging passion in cycle adventures that can take place in the course of a morning or extended weekend, as well! Including but not limited to: Mountain Biking, Cyclocross, Road biking, and Commuting.

Cats or cat alternates: My Cat Alternates include 3 fierce and lovely chickens named Tooskie, Reginald and Pinkus. They make their home in my backyard by the compost bin, often sleep in the trees, and coo to me when I feed them watermelon rinds.

Favorite snacks: Ginger Candy. Dark Chocolate. Dried Mango. Fritos. Grapefruit Juice. Coconut Seltzer. GirlFriend baked goods.

Why do you ride?

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way.

Bike career highlights:

My first Mountain Bike Race was a brutal 100 mile jawn called the Hampshire 100! You can read more about it here:
