Name: Eve Maxson, aka Evil to the Maxson
Occupation/Off-Bike Skills: I’m working as a Behavioral Health Worker in a Mastery Charter school, ultimately interested in being a child therapist. I enjoy fix-it projects, but I’m also skilled at getting free replacement items from warranty services.
Disciplines: Road!! But I’m definitely cyclocross- and MTB-curious as well.
Cats or cat alternates: My tiny dog, whose name is Benny, is for all intents and purposes a cat. He’s keen to sun bathe in puddles of sunshine, steal my heat through cuddling, and wake up from his morning nap so that he can start his afternoon nap. I’m actually allergic to cats so joining Team Laser Cats appears to be a form of self-inflicted exposure therapy for allergies.
Favorite snacks: Ben&Jerry’s Phish Food ice cream, which is technically a dessert, but details details…I also love to snack on dill pickles, Trader Joe’s salt and vinegar chips, adult carrots (baby carrots aren’t real), and sticky rice.
Why do you ride?
Because it’s fun and I love being in kit on a bike just riding along with friends or by myself. I love how the feelings I have while on the bike range from relaxed and blissfully happy to convinced-I’ve-never-been-in-so-much-pain-and-feeling-like-I’m-going-to-vomit. Also, the bike community is awesome and it fosters friendships between people who wouldn’t otherwise cross paths.
Bike career highlights:
Started the Bates College Cycling Club // Pulled an all-nighter to complete the Vätternrundan 300km ride.
